Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that the European Union (EU) is selling its strategic and geo-economic interests in the name of punishing Russia.

He made the remarks in an interview with Russia-1 TV channel "Moscow.Kremlin.Putin". He said the EU was selling its strategic and geopolitical interests because it did not want to lag behind the United States. We have become accustomed to all this.


He says Russia needs to build a safe zone for itself. Russia should not rely on its whims and fancies if the EU maintains its negative and destructive position. Moscow must maintain its own development.
